Contains Art CIO is seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic and creative Music Programmer to work as part of the wider East Quay team in support of our creative and cultural programme of Watchet, Somerset.

Full- or part-time: 20 days over a 1 year period (April 2024 - March 2025)

Location: East Quay, Watchet, Somerset

Salary: £250 per day

This job description is a guide to the nature of the work. It is not wholly comprehensive or restrictive and may be reviewed as required; other responsibilities may be added depending on experience and need.

  • Work closely with the General Manager, Directors and team at East Quay to develop and manage a strong, diverse and balanced music repertoire as part of East Quay’s events programme;
  • Curate the music events programme to align with the overall objectives of East Quay, considering factors such as venue, audience demographics and event schedule;
  • Support with monitoring and evaluation processes in support of the programme of events at East Quay;
  • Establish relationships with local, emerging and established artists to feature in live performances at events at East Quay and maintain a database of such;
  • Coordinate with external event production teams/musicians and the team at East Quay to integrate music events into the wider East Quay events programme;
  • Collaborate with programmed artists to curate relevant music programming on specific themes;
  • Assist with training East Quay staff in music technical support and music events programming.
  • Support the organisation and delivery of events at East Quay;
  • Facilitate positive and effective communication with the whole team including Front of House, the Kitchen team, and wider East Quay team, attending staff meetings and hosting training when required;
  • Ensure standards of health and safety, complying with risk assessments, maintaining
  • compliance with all relevant legislation and standards including Safeguarding, Health and Safety, First Aid, COSHH, safe working practices and fire safety.
  • Complying with Contains Art policies and procedures and supporting the team to do the same.

Person Specification

  • Previous experience as an Events Music Curator, Programmer, or similar role in the live entertainment or arts and culture industry;
  • In-depth knowledge of various music genres;
  • Strong organisational skills with ability to coordinate and execute a curated music events plan;
  • A dedication for broadening scope of an events programme, with diverse and dynamic musicians;
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with artists, producers, and the wider team at East Quay;
  • Experience working with audio equipment, sound systems, and other technical equipment;
  • Previous/current experience as a Musician or has a love for music (D);
  • Experience promoting events on social media (D);
  • Experience with music production administration, such as creating contracts and contact databases (D);
