MAY DAY CELEBRATION- Community of Beings

DATE: Monday 4th May
TIME: 1pm - 5pm
LOCATION: East Quay Courtyard
This is a free event - all welcome!

Join us at East Quay this May Day Bank Holiday with our ‘Community of Beings’ festival!

It's set to be an afternoon full of music, dancing, storytelling, face painting, craft demonstrations and fantastic food & drink, as we welcome in the season of sunshine, mark Beltane and celebrate the natural world around us.

EVENT SCHEDULE:

1-3pm: Craft and family friendly activities

  • Make animals from willow
  • Find out how sheep’s wool is spun
  • See how trees are turned into bowls and spoons
  • Have your face painted as an animal or plant
  • Listen to stories about magical beings and nature (1.30pm and 2.30pm)
  • Make a mask of your favourite ‘being’

2pm: May Pole dancing

3pm: May Day blessing to celebrate the changing seasons

3.15pm: Live music from Barnbuskers!
Round off the day country dancing with Barnbuskers Ceilidh Band! Right-hand-stars, do-si-dos and swing your partner!
A caller to explain the dances, suitable for all ages, beginner-friendly, and great fun! No need to bring a partner, find one when you get here.

1pm - 5pm:  Food & Drink
Enjoy a range of delicious seasonal food and drink served by the EQ Kitchen throughout the day.
