SPOKEN WORD NIGHT: December
DATE: Wednesday 17 December
TIME: 7pm - 9pm
LOCATION: East Quay Kitchen
This is a FREE event
Our next open mic is Wednesday 17th December at 7pm, in the East Quay Kitchen. This month's guest speaker will be Jaidah. The invitational theme is 'The Waning Crescent: Release, Reflection, Rest and Regeneration'.
As the last days of the year crawl ever closer, the final days of the moon's lunar cycle grow closer. The waning crescent, or the 'old moon,' symbolizes rest, release, and replenishment.
We turn our energy inward asthe light fades and look toward personal growth. Perhaps this is the time tolook back on the year passed. Have you been challenged or changed? Are therehabits or thoughts you'd like to shed before the year ahead? Perhaps in lettinggo of that which does not serve, new opportunities will arise. Reflect, write,and come and share!
Poetry Prompt:
SELF LOVE by Lang Leav
Once when I was running,
from all that haunted me;
to the dark I was succumbing-
to what hurt unbearably.
Searching for the one thing,
that would set my sad soul free.
In time I stumbled upon it,
an inner calm and peace;
and now I am beginning,
to see and to believe,
in who I am becoming-
and all I've yet to be.
