SPOKEN WORD NIGHT: February
DATE: Wednesday 18th February
TIME: 7pm - 9pm
LOCATION: East Quay Kitchen
This is a FREE event
Its time for this month's Spoken Word! Our next open mic is Wednesday 18th February at 7pm, in the East Quay Kitchen. This month's guest speaker will be Dai Woolridge. The invitational theme is The bud of hope.
As winter thaws and the days grow longer, February can be a time of awakening as we move toward spring. Just like the primroses' buds beginning to flower, can we reobserve the things around us for signs of fresh hope? What might we have neglected, or let us pass by unawares? What seeds did we plant, and perhaps forget about, that could now begin to bloom? What does hope mean to you?
Poetry Prompt:
In Retrospect by Maya Angelou
Last year changed its seasons
subtly, stripped its sultry winds
for the reds of dying leaves,
let gelid drips of winter ice melt onto
a warming earth and urged the dormant
bulbs to brave the
pain of spring.
We, loving, above the whim of
time, did not notice.
Alone. I remember now.
