Sustainable Textile Club


Come and enjoy a relaxed social atmosphere of mending whilst learning different textile techniques, chatting and having a drink.

Each session there is a different focus and materials available to use. There will be a supportive East Quay member of staff to help and advise and give ideas. You are welcome to bring your own textile projects with you to continue with also.

When: Second Tuesday of every month

Time: 6.30-7.30pm

Where: East Quay Kitchen

Who: No sewing experience necessary

Cost: Free*

*This is a free event but donations to Contains Art are welcomed to cover the cost for materials.

Session 1 : 09.01.2024  

Mending holes with embroidery

(Bring if you would like an item of textiles that needs to be mended, embroidery threads, embroidery hoops, embroidery needles with sharp point)

Session 2 : 13.02.2024

Couching techniques

(Bring if you would like embroidery threads, wool/yarns)

Session 3 : 12.03.2024

Spring chicks made from fabric scraps

(Bring if you would like scraps if fabrics)

Session 4 : 09.04.2024

Applique mending

(Bring if you would like an item of textiles that needs to be mended, scraps of fabrics, embroidery thread)
