The Ancient Mariner
A group show by West Somerset College Sixth Form Students

Taking inspiration from themes in Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s famous poem, The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, students have created work which reflects on our relationship with the natural environment, incorporating elements of the supernatural.

Through painting, photography and textiles, the works draw attention to plastic pollution and a shared feeling of sadness felt in the face of the climate crisis, offering visions of alternative futures through imaginary landscapes, melting forms, and shifting horizons.
