BASKET OF LIGHT: a project by Gathering Hope

Artist and maker Simon Johnson has woven a Basket of Light. It has been made to collect the hopes of a community, transforming them into illuminated messages.

‘If you could seed hope, what hope would you want to grow in our community?’

You are invited to come and speak into the basket.  It listens to those words and gathers them together, sifting through for shared dreams and the words that repeat and resonate, making them glow a little more brightly.

Come and speak your hope into the basket, ensuring it is collected and kept safe.  Our ambition is that it will soon tour around the different community organisations in Watchet. If you would like to host Gathering Hope please get in touch.

Gathering Hope is designed and made by Free Ice Cream, commissioned by Onion Collective and funded by the Watchet Coastal Community Team’s Place Based Social Action fund.

For more information please contact Georgie Grant.
