Bethan Harris is an artist based in Somerset, specialising in detailed pastel drawings of the natural environment. Bethan’s practice focuses on drawing, with a distinctemphasis on the use of colour and line to create imaginative landscapes and to documentnature’s cycles. She blends observation with abstraction to capture theephemeral essence of nature through its movements, textures, and the shiftingplay of light. Bethan draws on personal memories and local history to exploreexternal landscapes and reflect on internal states of being.

Bethan graduated with a Fine Art degree at Newcastle University in 2022 and has since exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts, Mall Galleries, and the Oxo Tower in London.

The Residency
‍Bethan is looking forward to having a new space to work in and the opportunity to bring new ideas into reality against the backdrop of the Watchet Marina. During the Residency, she would like to create immersive drawings on a bigger scale than she usually work and expand her practice through material installation. She's excited to explore and draw inspiration from the surrounding landscape and coastline, investigating how it has moved and transformed over time, and responding to historical sites of interest for this project.
