The Steart: Connecting Coastal Communities Project has been creating opportunities in the heart of the local community, designed to deepen engagement with saltmarsh and wetlands.

The Summer of Saltmarsh at WWT Steart Marshes has become the inspiration for an array of artworks, showcasing in the exhibition. Led by local artists, workshops have encouraged members of the public to stop, observe and interpret what nature on the wetland has to offer. From intricate, studies of plants in watercolours and sketching, to broad observations of the land in impressive drawn-style monoprints.

You’ll also find willow sculpture; clay ‘bubbles’ capturing the essence of the marshes in clay discs; delicate paper-cut artwork inspired by seasonal plants, seed heads and grasses; and flower-based bunting, created using the traditional Japanese technique of Hapa Zome. Overall, the exhibition will show a broad range of art forms, each capturing a part of the WWT Steart Marshes nature reserve.
