"What Makes You Happy?"
A group exhibition by local school students

Taking the form of a colourful mosaic covering the walls of Studio 10 Project Space, this exhibition brings together a selection of artwork made by over 1,000 local students, created in response to the question: “What makes you happy?”

The Learning Team at East Quay worked in partnership with schools and teachers across West Somerset to bring this exhibition to life. As part of the project, they developed a resource for teachers to deliver in their classrooms, encouraging young people to reflect on the things that bring them joy.

All the artworks have been made by students from Pre-school through to Year 9 (ages 3 to 14), who were invited to consider the colours, objects, shapes, hobbies, people and places that are meaningful to them. Each student transformed their ideas into a miniature canvas, expressing what makes them happy through a medium they enjoy working with.

The artworks include a whole range of ideas and inspirations, including depictions of trees, streams, mountains and coastal sunsets, to reading and playing football in the mud. Not to mention beloved bunny rabbits, guinea pigs, cats and dogs, and plenty of fun times spent with family and friends, on holiday and at home.

Filled to the brim with joy, colour, energy and wonder, the artworks are a testament to the imagination, energy and creativity of young people living and learning in West Somerset. We hope they bring you a smile!
