East Quay Art

We are so excited about our new Pod 5 interior, recently re-designed by artist Rachel Eardley.

Treat yourself to a stay at this bespoke pod, perched above East Quay. Every year, East Quay selects a different artist for the Pod 5 Artist Residency, inviting an emerging creative practitioner to live and work at East Quay for two weeks, working with the community to help inform, design, and create a transformative installation in Pod 5.

This year, Pod 5 has been designed by artist and maker, Rachel Eardley. Rachel is inspired by the simple day to day objects in our homes and loves to use materials that have lost their purpose and are full of history. Here, much of the design is inspired by West Somerset including the drawings, hanging textiles, and illustrations. If you would like to learn more about Rachel and her work, please visit: www.racheleardley.com

The Immersive Art pod is situated on the second floor of East Quay. It includes a small kitchenette complete with a fridge, sink, kettle, and toaster for simple meals, or of course you can just head to East Quay Kitchen for a delicious meal or some cake. The beautifully finished bathroom is complete with toilet, sink, and shower. The viewing terrace boasts stunning views over the town, harbour, and sea.

Tucked onto a raised platform in the corner is a standard double bed, with luxury organic bedlinen and an organic wool duvet, on top of a luxury natural mattress.  A ladder leads to a mezzanine nook which overlooks the steam railway line – called the Stitching Snug - the perfect place to while away the afternoon.

While you're here, come explore to the galleries, chat to artists in their studios, eat at the friendly restaurant, and take in the incredible views of our Somerset coastline and Watchet Harbour. The interior design of this pod changes each year commissioned by a different artist.

Please note that this pod may not be suitable for some guests due to the multiple stairs. Children are not permitted to stay in this pod.

Please note that we keep the price of Pod 5 as low as possible so that as many people as possible can get to experience each iteration of the pod as it changes every year!

"Wow! If you want the Wow-factor then you’ve most definitely found the right place in Pod 5! Floating high in the sky, with beautiful bird’s eye views of Watchet Harbour and the coastline beyond.. This perfect little pod, with its bright, designer interior ticks every single box. With the most comfortable bed, compact kitchenette, surprisingly spacious shower room AND your very own quirky added extra, A DREAM ROOM! (assessed via a ladder)."

"A cool and quirky place with a view from the bed that was worth the money. The upstairs lounge might be great for star-gazing too. There’s no kitchen as such, but had a kettle and toaster with tea, coffee and milk provided, so it would be good for breakfast. We ate breakfast at the cafe downstairs which was open from 9am and was ace. There’s no photos of the bathroom but it was a lovely rain shower, and the soaps and shampoos provided were great. The minimal allocated parking will put some off, but the nearby public car park is just as close, and if you only park from 6pm-9am it’ll be free."

"The pods at East Quay are absolutely beautiful! You can really see that so much care and attention has been put into every aspect of their designs - each one being very different and unique! From the moment we arrived, we knew we would have the best of nights staying here in the wonderful art pod. We really felt at home with the beautiful surroundings and decor. The bed was so comfy and we loved climbing up to the dream space and playing games up there! We recommend to everyone who stays that you check out the cafe kitchen below the pods as the food there is scrumptious, and there are many vegan options! We will definitely be coming back for a longer stay and bringing family with us too!"
